The Aquinas College Chemistry Society is a Student Chapter of the American Chemical Society. Each year, the group sponsors educational, professional, and social activities for chemistry students and the whole Aquinas community. Interested students should contact any of the officers or any chemistry faculty member to find out when the next meeting will be held. Aquinas students may also check out our Facebook and Course Connect pages for information, upcoming events, and opportunities for participation.

Student Member status is not required for participation in Chemistry Society meetings or events. Student Members receive a quarterly magazine, are eligible for national programs, and receive discounts on insurance, travel, and meeting registration fees. A student may become an ACS Student Member by submitting an application .

Aquinas Chemistry Society Recognition

The Aquinas Chemistry Society has received an Outstanding
ACS Student Communities2025 ACS Award Award for the 2024-25 year.  These awards are given by the American Chemical Society Committee on Education, and Outstanding is the highest level of award.  The awards are given in recognition of the student chapter's engagement with both the campus Aquinas community and the greater Eastown and Grand Rapids communities.

Last year's officers, who are largely responsible for the number of events that led to this award, were President Noah Reilly ('25), Vice President Ella Satterthwaite, Secretary Emilie Poirier, and Treasurer Andrew Moody.  Social Media Coordinator Carissa Matthews ('25) was also instrumental in publicizing and celebrating the accomplishments of the Aquinas Chemistry Society.

Here are the eight students who attended the American Chemical Society meeting last spring:

In 2022, the Aquinas Chemistry Society, a student chapter of the American Chemical Society (ACS), has been recognized with a Commendable Award. Fewer than 10% of active student chapters earn the Commendable Chapter Award each year. Awards are based on the annual report written by the chapter officers,

containing details of their yearly activities in the major categories of community service, education/outreach, and chapter events.
